Olmeca Tax Services

FAQ

Questions people ask us.

01

Who prepares my tax return?

A small team of PTIN-registered preparers — the same people each season, not whoever is next in line. Before anything is transmitted to the IRS, your return is reviewed and approved by a registered preparer acting as our Electronic Return Originator. Nothing is filed unchecked.

02

How much experience do you have?

Five years preparing individual and business returns, with continuing education renewed every year to stay current on the code. The practice is intentionally small so that experience goes into reviewing your return rather than into volume.

03

Is Olmeca Tax Services a local business?

Yes — we're rooted in Los Angeles and Orange County, and we work 100% remotely, serving Los Angeles, Orange County, and clients across California and most U.S. states. We currently do not prepare returns for residents of Oregon, New York, Maryland, or Connecticut.

04

What types of tax returns do you prepare?

Individual returns (1040), self-employed and gig income, rentals, and multi-state filings; plus business returns for LLCs, partnerships and S-corps. We also handle ITIN applications, payroll filings, and unfiled prior-year returns.

05

What documents do I need to provide?

At minimum: ID, Social Security cards or ITIN letters for everyone on the return, last year's return, and all income forms. The Resources page has a full checklist — and once we start, we tell you exactly what's still missing.

06

How long will it take to get my refund?

The IRS typically issues e-filed refunds with direct deposit in about 21 days. Returns claiming the EITC or Additional Child Tax Credit are held by law until mid-February. Paper checks and amended returns take considerably longer.

07

Will I receive a copy of my completed tax return?

Always. You get a complete PDF copy of the filed return plus the e-file confirmation, before you're asked to pay anything further. Keep it — you'll need it next year and for any loan or aid application.

08

How do you protect my personal and tax information?

We're an IRS-authorized e-file provider, use secure e-signature for anything you sign, operate under a written data security plan as the IRS requires of preparers, and never leave paper files unattended. Your information is never shared or sold.
